Traditional Myeongli uses temporal layers of different lengths
Traditional Myeongli does not discuss only the natal structure. It also describes later Un (運) as temporal flow.[1]
Within that framework, Daeun (大運), or Luck Pillars, is a longer temporal layer, while a shorter annual influence layer is also discussed.[1]
This article introduces only the existence and basic relationship of these layers.
Daeun is commonly framed as a ten-year flow
Daeun is commonly described as a longer flow changing in ten-year units.[2]
Here, “ten years” is a traditional temporal framing used in Myeongli.
It is not itself a scientifically validated causal effect, nor does it mean that a particular event must occur during that ten-year period.
Annual influence may appear as seun or yeonun terminology
Terminology for annual influence differs across Sources.
A public academic abstract uses seun (歲運).[1] Korean-language Myeongli materials also use the term yeonun / 年運.
For that reason, this article may introduce the layer as annual influence / seun·yeonun, but it does not claim that the two terms are perfectly identical across every school and historical period.
These layers are read in relation to the natal structure
A beginner-level structure can be understood as:
natal structure → longer layer: Daeun → annual layer: annual influence
This does not mean that the cycles automatically determine a person's life. It means that traditional interpretation distinguishes temporal contexts of different lengths.
The structure does not guarantee whether or when a specific event will occur.
Calculation rules and event timing are outside this article
This article does not cover Luck-Pillar start age, forward/reverse sequencing, Month-Pillar calculation rules, five-year splitting, Branch-first weighting, Yongshin-based scoring, combination/clash timing, or annual/monthly/daily algorithms.
Those rules require separate school attribution, Source review, and calculation contracts.
For now, two ideas are enough:
Daeun is a longer temporal layer, and annual influence is a shorter temporal layer.
These layers provide interpretive context; they are not a prediction table guaranteeing specific events.
